Hi,
my name is Laraine Joy and the name of the CD that I produced is entitled
"JUST
FOUND JOY".
The title came from a combination of my last name and the
Old
jazz tune "SWEET LORRAINE" which starts out with the line "I just
Found
joy, I'm as happy as a baby boy." There are four songs on the CD, each
Of
which I wrote the words, music and arranged, performed and composed. I was
Going
to Metropolitan State College of Denver at the time and it was part of
a
project for a Composition Class. I funded the entire project and being a
Single
mom, this became quite costly. I know that I could do so much more
with
the right backing and will certainly appreciate any assistance that you,
as
a sponsor, might provide. So, let me tell you a little bit about the songs.
"SWEET
RAIN” I wrote this song after my divorce. I had lived in an abusive
marriage
for 13 years and one day while standing under a hot shower I felt
like
God was just washing all the pain away. This song is a testimony to the
renewal
I felt in my life at that time.
"THE
WISH” One night I was driving home from entertaining at a big
Christmas
party out in Aurora, Colorado and I looked up in the sky as I
Traveled
west and saw a shooting star. I had never seen one before and it was
such
a crystal clear night that it was the most beautiful and fascinating
sight.
I ran home and wrote this song. I've always called it my "Disney" song
because
it sounds like a track from a Disney movie.
"I
CAN DANCE” This is one of my favorites! I was talking to my pastor at
Church
one evening about some things going on in my life. (My pastor is
Miriam
Dixon and is also one of my good friends.) She told me that when she
sees
me she sees an adult with the heart of a child. "I see you wanting to
run
and dance for joy." This is what she told me and I ran home to write a
song
about it.
"LET
ME LOVE YOU” Although this song has happy words it is written to music
that
doesn't sound so happy. I wrote the poem a year before the music when I
was
in the middle of what I felt was the greatest love of my life. Sadly it
did
not last and when this relationship ended was when I actually pulled the
poem
out and set it to music. I have sung this song simply and for all lovers
to
enjoy.
I
hope you enjoy listening to these songs and I want you to know there is a
lot
more where that came from. I love to sing and play piano and compose
music.
My greatest interest lies in writing for other performers. You can
