Joe Sanchez
Our artist, Joe Sanchez, died Sunday May 1, 2005.
For those of you who
didn't know him or missed seeing him on our TV show in 2003
I'm going to ask Dan Byers of Colorado Rock to help us reissue
that episode with Wayne's, Holly's and my own comments about Joe in it.
Joe was a Veteran of the late 60's and had several older
children. We started recording Joe's music three years ago.
He always came through for Innervision with his talent and
passion for life and his music.
We talked about putting his
music out there and I have been trying to have Joe on our
live shows so people could hear him perform his music!
We loved
recording Joe in our studio and Joe love us believing in
what he said in his music.
If you have ever heard of "Freddy
Fender", a singer from the late 70''s, Joe's songs were just as
good as Freddy's!
If you want to hear Joe
listen to "There You Know".
We had
recorded five of Joe's songs. If you want to buy that CD,
for a donation of $10 or more, Innervision will give some of
the money to his family; with the rest we want to
do what Joe always talked to us about: he wanted to get his
music to the radio community!
I would tell Joe that it costs money
to have music played on the radio. That is why we wanted him
to do our TV shows and live shows, so we could raise money to
pay for commercials for Joe's music on KBCO FM or one of the
public stations.
We tell all our artists that, in the radio
business today, in order to get the DJ to play local music,
we, as their record company, had to buy sixty seconds
of commercial time so people would get used to hearing their music
and call up the stations to request it.
We were getting Joe
to that level. I called his Niece on a Sunday afternoon to
tell Joe to do the show at Broussard's this weekend because
all of the people who are going to be downtown Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
I found out the previous night that Joe was in
Denver and wanted to come see me at the studio but
decided to go back up to Pueblo, where he later was found
dead in his apartment.
The memorial service
was June 8, 2005.
